| The DSP (Digital Signal Processing) system used by Video
Atlantic is Sony's DVCAM system. Rather than
re-engineering an analog product to digital, DVCAM is a
whole new system developed from the ground up. DVCAM uses
similar formatting as a computer's hard drive. So when we
shoot location video on DVCAM tape, it's like shooting on
a hard drive. When that image is moved to the hard drive for editing, it's doesn't have to be digitized... it's already digitized... so there's no loss in quality. Your video is uploaded not transformed. Because of this, the images on the DVCAM tape can be loaded onto the ES-7 hard drive at 4x speed... one hour is loaded in 15 minutes. So not only do you save on the loss of quality as in other systems, you save on the loss of time. And in the video world, time is money. In addition, Sony's ClipLink system records the first frame of each shot on a chip inside the DVCAM cassette. These clips are transferred to the ES-7 editing system immediately. You can start your edit without waiting for upload. If you wish, you can also pick your shots on-location with a good/no-good button on the DVCAM camera. The DVCAM advantage to Internet and CD video is that your video starts digital... stays digital. Most Internet videos spend part of their life as analog and usually home quality VHS analog at that. With Video Atlantic's system you get Digital to Digital transfers to the Internet or your Video CD or DVD. Some day all production companies will be SDTV ready. At Video Atlantic Teleproductions that some day is NOW. |
