Rotary
District 7600 has taken the dental health of the children
of Guyana as their international project. Working with
the Rotary Club of Georgetown, Guyana, they bring medical
and dental care to the children.Volunteer dentists and
Rotary members from southeastern Virginia take turns
spending two weeks in-country, treating the children. |
| A giant step was taken in January 1998
when the Mobile Medical Clinic with five dental chairs
arrived. Previously volunteer dentists worked out in the
open. And frequently they had no electricity. They were
limited to examinations and extractions. Now they have dental drills, lasers, lights and air conditioning making their job not just easier, but possible. Teeth that would have been extracted or left to decay further are being filled and saved. |
